ISURDEV'26

The 4th International Symposium on Urban and Regional Development (ISURDEV’26) aims to bring together scientists, young researchers, and other stakeholders (entrepreneurs/investors, representatives of civil society organizations, and policymakers) around the theme of development.

By bringing together scientists from different disciplines and addressing development in all its dimensions, the symposium is expected to contribute positively to discussions of the subject at urban and regional levels.

The symposium also aims to develop long-term academic and institutional collaborations; create opportunities for joint projects, research consortia, and publications; provide and encourage opportunities for young researchers to present their work; and offer concrete recommendations to decision-makers.

The main theme of the 4th International Symposium on Urban and Regional Development is the scientific discussion of regional inequalities, urban poverty, migration and urbanization, smart cities, green transformation and sustainability as an environmentally friendly economic model, as well as innovative approaches, regional development models, and development strategies.

Submissions on these and similar topics are welcome.

Papers that fall outside the main theme but are consistent with the title of the symposium will also be considered for evaluation.

The International Symposium on Urban and Regional Development, being held for the fourth time, will be hosted by Dicle University.

Papers presented by participants within the scope of the symposium will be prepared for electronic publication in the appropriate format.

As part of the Symposium Social Program, excursions and group dining events organized for participants coming from outside Diyarbakır will provide opportunities for our university’s academic staff, academics from other institutions, and other stakeholders to meet, establish professional communication, and develop academic collaboration.

The Symposium Social Program will also contribute to promoting the historical, touristic, and cultural heritage of Diyarbakır, an ancient 12,000-year-old city whose secrets are whispered by its walls, as well as the places along the excursion route.

Papers outside the main theme but consistent with the title of the Symposium will also be considered.

The Symposium will provide a platform for participating scientists to meet, establish professional communication, and develop academic collaboration.

The 4th International Symposium on Urban and Regional Development contributes to meeting associate professorship, appointment, and promotion criteria. Papers submitted to the Symposium will be accepted/published after successfully completing the blind review process.

Participants who wish to publish their work as a book chapter may have it published as an editorial book chapter with an ISBN, in accordance with Associate Professorship Application and Academic Incentive Criteria, provided that the work has not been published in the Proceedings Book and successfully passes peer review.

The presentation languages are Turkish and English, and presentations may be delivered in person or online.

No participation fee will be charged for the Symposium. Participants may attend with a maximum of two papers. Abstracts of presented papers will be published in the ISBN-assigned Symposium Book of Abstracts. Full texts of presented papers may also be published, on an optional basis, in the Symposium Proceedings Book.

No fee will be charged to participants who choose to publish their full papers as chapters in an editorial book eligible for academic incentive and associate professorship points.
